ArtistIn Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet's wrath is described in detail in a myth called "The Destruction of Mankind," which is contained in the Book of the Heavenly Cow. The Legend of Sekhmet's Wrath: Divine Wrath: The sun god Ra, having grown old, discovered that humanity was plotting a rebellion against his rule. The Eye of Ra: Enraged, Ra sent his daughter (often identified with the aspect of Hathor) to Earth in the form of the goddess Sekhmet with the head of a lioness to punish them. Massacre: Sekhmet's rage was so fierce that it almost wiped out the entire human race. She developed an insatiable thirst for blood, and she didn't stop even after Ra's anger subsided. Fiery Breath: Sekhmet was believed to spew fire at his enemies. The scorching, hot desert winds were often described by the ancient Egyptians as "the breath of Sekhme."
A golden lion-headed figure reminiscent of an Egyptian pharaoh, with human-like body and dark skin, stands prominently in the foreground, facing slightly right with its head turned to the right. The figure wears intricate golden and blue armor, including prominent shoulder pads, a broad collar necklace with a hanging pendant, armbands, and a golden belt. A blue and gold striped nemes headdress covers its lion head. The background features a vibrant desert landscape with two pyramids under a dramatic orange sky with scattered clouds. A bright sun is visible on the upper left, casting a warm glow over the scene.
