Promoting Works-Based Righteousness: They prioritized strict, outward adherence to human traditions over internal, heartfelt repentance and faith, leading people toward a false understanding of salvation.
Rejecting Jesus: They opposed Jesus, his ministry, and his miracles, discouraging others from believing in him as the true Messiah.
Abusing Authority: They used their religious standing to shame, guilt, and place heavy, unnecessary burdens on people.
Distorting Scripture: They obscured the true meaning of the Scriptures with their own interpretations, rather than teaching the truth that points to the Messiah.
Hypocrisy: They demanded high standards from others that they themselves did not follow.
