ArtistThe image depicts a female figure in motion captured mid-stride lunging forward in an attack. Her right arm is extended forward with a katana thrust forward as if at an enemy, and her left arm swings back beside her side holding aloft a wakizashi ready to block or parry. The woman has Arabic features and skin tone. The woman is fairly short and petite, and only moderately muscular looking. She has brown skin tone, dark brown eyes, and long black straight hair held back behind her shoulders and away from her face by a leather head piece. Her facial features are determined, with dark eyebrows and fierce, focused eyes that hint at her readiness for combat. She is wearing a revealing berry blue dress of a chamois like material. The top of the dress is a snugly fitting halter top design which leaves her arms, shoulders bare and back bare. Each side of the chest area has a pair of light gray leather straps coming around from her back to fasten the sides. These straps each have a buckle, and the end of each has a very small silver star which looks exactly like a 5-pointed shuriken in line with her armpit. Her skirt is cut high, emphasizing her toned legs. The skirt has slit sides on her thighs, and is cut very tight and thigh height revealing her legs below. Cinched tightly around her waist is a crimson red silk pirate's sash with two flowing ends trailing dramatically behind her two feet or so from her motion. On her left hip is a sheath for the katana. She is wearing knee-high soft leather boots with black laces crisscrossed up the front. In the background are mountains with the Tooth of Time prominent in the distance. The sky is bright and clear, with many clouds visible and the sun high overhead. The bright sunlight emphasizes the dynamism and power of this fierce woman warrior.
A PC in my long-running D&D campaign, one of several I've tinkered with as something of a learning project creating images of places, people, and events. The name is a mouthful, she more or less earned all that over the years. It reflects both some of her accomplishments and the multiple cultures she is a part of. She would usually introduce herself as simply Selema or at most Initiate Selema Masradi unless trying to be formal, which she usually disdains.
Selema belongs to an ancient Sisterhood with many rumored mystical powers from their deep study of martial arts and meditative focus. The most widely known of their supposed powers is the cheerful ability to just ignore both freezing cold and baking heat, which the teachers of their philosophy serenely insist anyone can learn to do with several years of training and proper meditative focus. She *eventually* learned to listen to her long-suffering sensei rather than charging off to the dojo in pursuit of her own focus on learning to trash bozos.
Keerytes are dedicated to the protection of freedom in general, championing and leading the helpless and weak of the world against oppression, and somewhat less openly depending on the situation, a strong focus on the promotion of equality and freedom for women in particular. Their fighting style focuses on speed and precision with fast, acrobatic maneuver mixed with something resembling savate, so they disdain any armor other than things like magical bracers.
This shows her in mid-confrontation with some minor threat to the local settlements around Symbala, the Hidden Refuge of the Sisterhood in a vale somewhere off in mountains of a wilderness area in the process of being reclaimed by the benevolent kingdom of Kamyrie. The Sisterhood has been there far longer than the kingdom but have been allied with the Crown since the foundation of the realm. The focus of the campaign for a good while now has been building up those settlements reclaiming that area Kamyrie lost nearly a thousand years ago. To the surprise of the players, they found tucked away in the mountains not far from where they chose to found a village the almost forgotten to the point of nearly myth headquarters of the Keeryte Sisterhood.
I generated a lot of random faces meeting the description of Selema we'd always had, and went through a lot of back and forth with the player to choose the face he thought best represented her. The clothing is something of a uniform for the Sisterhood. The students are in rich dark blue, and the teachers and masters they call Vowsisters are in a dark green version of the same outfit. Think of a monastery in a martial arts movie and you get a feel for the flavor, with a generous helping of wizardry and divine magic. I've got a Sketchup 3D model of their Hidden Refuge, one of the other little projects I'm tinkering with is turning some of the views out of that into images, too.
