Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of funerary rites, mummification, and patron of necropolises.
Full shot of Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of death and embalming, standing before the ornate golden sarcophagus of a pharaoh in a dimly lit tomb. Anubis has the head of a black jackal and a muscular, dark-skinned human body. He wears a blue and gold striped nemes headdress, a broad gold collar with blue accents, gold armbands, and a white linen kilt. Around his neck hangs a golden ankh pendant. His bare feet are visible on the stone floor. In his right hand, he holds a golden ankh, and in his left hand, he holds a crook (heka) scepter. The sarcophagus is intricately detailed with hieroglyphs, and images of Egyptian deities, including Horus. Behind Anubis, reliefs of ancient Egyptian figures and hieroglyphs cover the stone walls, which are illuminated by the flickering flame of a torch mounted on the left wall. The torch casts dramatic shadows on the textured walls. Scattered around the stone floor are various ancient artifacts including small clay pots, several neatly wrapped bundles of cloth, and some gold flakes or small pieces of debris.
