My independent and non-binding, maybe unpopulr, personal opinion is that New Year's Eve fireworks for private individuals should be abolished for reasons of safety, environmental protection and animal protection. The money could also be used more sensibly.

If you really want to turn money into smoke on New Year's Eve, buy weed. It also bangs/pops, protects the environment and doesn't scare animals! Or better yet, take your money and donate it to charities and charitable causes, do good, help and support others!
Fireworks and their consequences are not good for nature, not for animals, and ultimately not for humans either.

If you absolutely have to do fireworks, please do it properly and responsibly.. So do not shoot at people, animals, other people's belongings or flammable things such as bushes. Also only use certified pyrotechnics. And if you handle fireworks, don't drink alcohol - you can do that afterwards. But alcohol and explosives or weapons are NOT a good combination. When I as medieval actor and stuntmen handle swords or longbows, I have a zero blood alcohol level so that I don't endanger myself or others.

Think about it, maybe the money spent on fireworks would be better spent on charitable and non-profit causes, right?
