Believing a war cannot happen
is little different from agreeing to begin one.
What would a few men do
to escape accountability?
To stop a war is great work,
never to be underestimated nor dismissed.
Waging peace.
Refuse conscription.
Dismantle the machines of slaughter.
Let the few pull their levers of fear;
their desperation exposes them,
their guilt they wish to hide.
Wealth and power warp the mind.
They mistake stewardship for ownership,
justifying themselves with sadistic views of fathership.
They ask, “What would happen without me?”
Self-importance feeds their terror, outwardly reflected.
Deep within they know the truth
stewardship misplaced,
lost in waves of self-made convolution.
Lost in status they wish you to believe it's high.
Their pride a poison they drink, they offer the vile.
Some choose to preserve asymmetry
through the unraveling of the social fabric.
They tilt the table
to maintain their shrinking advantage.
Their leadership, like their stewardship,
is self-delusion.
Let their ivory towers fracture
under the weight of their own deceit.
For the fabric of humanity grows stronger
when we dare to be bold,
dare to believe,
and refuse the world they are all too eager to offer.
