ArtistA large, Roman-style indoor smithy. There is a large hearth against the back wall, but no other furniture or tools. The hearth is dirty with piles of old ashes in it. Strange runes are carved into the stonework all around the hearth. Athena, an anthropomorphic elderly tabby cat in red robes and a red cloak, carries a rapier in a sheath attached to her belt. Athena crouches on all fours, she is seen from behind crawling into the hearth and inspecting it. Her paws are dirty and her cloak has sooty patches on it.
Inside the smithy, Athena crawls into the hearth. The ashes are cold, it is clear that no fire has burned there for weeks. Mysterious symbols line the walls, of which Athena makes an exact copy. Perhaps she can find someone who can read them? She rummages through the ashes. Something catches her eye as it peaks out from underneath the largest piles of ashes. It seems to be a piece of parchment. Carefully, Athena eases the parchment out of the hearth and gently brushes the ashes off. What has she found? Did this parchment fall into the fire by accident? Was it discarded because it was no longer needed? Or, did the smith wish to dispose of some information he intended to keep to himself?
