ArtistCreate an iconic, maximally wide, landscape oriented surrealist oil painting of an epically vast, surreal mountainous dystopian landscape of broken objects, garbage, and filth in the style of zdzislaw beksinski. In a minuscule, carved out and illuminated portion of the center sits a ghoulish ethereal woman with a tortured expression of despair contorting the remains of what should be her face. In the woman's immediate vicinity can be seen her futile attempts at brightening her surroundings with beautiful and elegant objects, which contrast the filth with their rich and vibrant colors. The woman and her small oasis appear almost lost in the sheer vastness of the surrounding filth and debris.
This was inspired by a time in my life when I was in a volatile relationship with a man who lived his life almost exclusively in an alternate reality. As a result, his immediate surroundings, and the world in which I lived with him was an ever-evolving chaotic mess- one which seemed to almost take on a life of it's own. I spent the better part of a year trying my damnedest to bring beauty to that chaos. But as luck would have it, my circumstances would take me away for a short time, and each time I returned, it would be as if all of the hard work I had done had been obliterated. This piece is representative of much of what that felt like.
