Scriptures about Jesus at night include the conversation with
Nicodemus in John 3:1-21, where Nicodemus visited Jesus under the cover of darkness. Another significant event is Jesus spending the night in prayer on a mountain before choosing the twelve apostles, as described in Luke 6:12-13.
The conversation with Nicodemus (John 3:1-21)
A Pharisee and member of the Jewish Council, Nicodemus, came to Jesus at night to speak with him privately.
He acknowledged Jesus's divine authority, stating that his miracles were evidence that "God is with you".
Jesus then taught Nicodemus about the necessity of being "born again" to see the kingdom of God and explained the concept of being born of the "Spirit".
This interaction is famous for the verse, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Jesus spending a night in prayer
Before choosing the twelve apostles, Jesus "went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God" (Luke 6:12)
