Amphithéâtre de grec ancien à l’université de Miskatonic, architecture du XVIIIe siècle, vaste salle de bois ancien, plancher d’époque, murs imposants chargés d’une présence sacrée et inquiétante, atmosphère de savoir interdit. L’ensemble doit mêler l’horreur cosmique d’inspiration Giger, les paysages mentaux sombres de Beksiński et l’absurde onirique de Max Ernst. Un professeur humain de petite taille se tient debout devant un tableau noir couvert de signes complexes, glyphes inconnus et notations linguistiques d’une langue universelle pour extraterrestres. Il enseigne avec gravité au milieu d’un décor académique solennel et décalé. De nombreux étudiants extraterrestres assistent au cours avec attention : certains sont assis sur les bancs, d’autres se sont adaptés à leur morphologie et sont suspendus au plafond, accrochés à l’architecture ancienne. Sur le côté, un monstre suspendu laisse pendre un tentacule terminé par un œil globuleux, observant la scène avec une étrange curiosité. L’image doit évoquer une expérience anachronique, savante et comique, comme une leçon magistrale dans un rêve antique et monstrueux.
