Prompt

Portrait of poet AMY LOWELL at the height of her eccentricity, painted in a head-and-shoulders portrait in the Impressionist style of Berthe Morisot, with the expressive brushstrokes of Vincent van Gogh and the moody, atmospheric lighting of Edward Hopper

More about Amy Lowell in a portrait by Edward Hopper and Berthe Marisot ( American Literati series )

"She was offered a position as a founding member of The Ladies' Club and she accepted, becoming a very enthusiastic member. I painted this just after she 'd accepted the offer - and yes, I was trying to curry favor - she was a Lowell, after all, and neglecting to offer her our services would have been social suicide. But it turned out that she could be very sweet when she didn't have her defenses up - *if* you could get her to put her defenses down." --- an illustration for my novella, with the working title "The Ladies' Club." ©2025 A.J.
