This interesting new comms modulation scheme can apparently be received at very low powers even when the background noise is way above signal level. Basically it uses spread spectrum (Hedy Lamarr) technology and fourier transforms to recognise and decode a trombone-like rising or falling frequency, and then extract the phase (offset from the start of the pulse, of the frequency transition) and convert it to an information symbol.
