A letter from my mother long ago within a Christmas card, inspired the song below.

Now, much to our delight, she may be with us in this way
when we gather our favourite Christmas music to play.

Plus, she also inspired an attempt at creating a Christmas album.
May not be stellar, but it was a whole lotta fun and also brings back memories.

Well it's that time of year again
my favorite
and while everyone
is frantically pounding
the floors of the malls
looking in windows
and wares on the walls
I am also frantic
sewing and making
sparkling candles,
and though I started
in early November,
I look around and wonder
what I have done--
Will I finish it all
in time!
But I do enjoy the
colourful materials,
ribbons and lace,
bells and bubbling
water melting wax
releasing sweet
fragrance
pouring and moulding
all into shapes that I choose
and decorating with
ideas gathered from when
your sister and I perused
through the different stores
with all their commercial
ware, to rush home
and incorporate
the most inspiring
there.
So, I am having fun,
and last night,
again your sister and I
baked 10 dozen cookies--
Talk about flour flying
and cookie cutters
clanking transforming
dough into delightful
shapes and sizes--
which in the next
couple of days
we will decorate
and package
along with our
home creations
to send off as gifts
to friends and relations.
Next
I want to decorate
my apartment --
Oh,
Mom phoned,
Said she already had
her tree up, that I better
hurry—Christmas
isn't that far away
which got
me feeling
frantic again,
but I decided to relax,
let the spirit flow,
Have been playing
Christmas music
since November,
you know, listening,
while I sew and create.
The music is from
the tapes
you sent long ago,
I thought I had lost them,
but one just popped up,
It is my favourite,
The Gregorian Chant,
that reminds me of
the Latin Mass
at the Church I love going to,
just three blocks away
with music made in Heaven,
Now, I am at the end
of the page, so
I will say,
