After the demise of my old test machine ("Cathy") described in a previous drawing, due to a "PCI Interrupt failure" in the hard disk controller, I now have a "new" test machine, consisting of an Intel Celeron in an Intel 845 motherboard, 512 megs of RAM, and the same 3+1/2 inch and 5+1/4 inch floppies and DVD-ROM drives (but a "new" HDD as the old one failed as it was spinning almost non-stop during much of the 1990's, and only had 6 gigs). Unfortunately my Gravis Ultrasound won't fit, as there are no ISA slots only PCI slots. "Caroline" (or more correctly "Cairoline", as it used to run MS-Windows XP (Cairo) on line (as my old Wandanet web server), is somewhat over-specified for a MS-DOS 5.0 machine, but since I no longer have Virgin Broadband (or run a web server) it was spare and repurposed for its new role. A slight hacksaw and drill job to the case (which was originally a Moretec AT486 chassis) made it fit for the job, particularly the keyboard and USB ports at the back. Retro continues to live :) The Gravis Ultrasound will eventually go in another mobo which has some ISA slots (which held Rhetorex multi-port telephony cards from my old 0898 voice-based adventure game, lol).
