Prejudices are learned; rejecting strangers in the first instance is not natural. Curiosity is natural. When children encounter a new person, they see them first and foremost as an individual, not as a representative of an entire category of people. They only learn to judge and condemn through adults and their prejudices. We should try again to see other people only as who they are, like unspoiled children would do, and not just take them as representatives for an entire group of other people.
