The Elephant in the Room (Is Outside)
They say not to speak of the elephant there,
The one taking up all the room and the air.
But my house was too small for a memory so wide,
So I opened the door and I put him outside.
Now he stands in the garden, he stands in the lane,
A mountain of ink in the mist and the rain.
He watches me walk, and he watches me sleep,
The biggest of secrets a spirit can keep.
He is not a monster, he is not a fear,
He is just all the love that I couldn't keep here.
