ArtistWatercolor and ink. The first sign of spring. House framers are adding a second story onto a ranch style house with a breezeway and one car garage. The new walls are put up with insulation added, and the new roof is completed. New siding and roof shingles have not yet been added. The workmen are hard at work on a glorious spring day. A pile of left over construction lumber and a porta-potty are sitting on the driveway.
A detailed illustration of a residential construction site in a suburban neighborhood with a two-story house under renovation or expansion. The house has light blue siding on the bottom floor, while the newly added second story is still framed with exposed wooden studs. Pink insulation batting is visible between the studs on the second floor. One construction worker in a yellow hard hat, blue shirt, and tool belt is on the roof, hammering something onto the wooden sheathing. Another worker, also in a yellow hard hat and similar attire, is on a ladder against the second story, working near a window opening. A third worker in a yellow hard hat is on another ladder against the house, further to the right. White tarps or sheeting are draped over part of the newly framed upper structure, possibly for protection.
In the foreground, two construction workers are carrying long wooden planks, walking on a dirt and gravel driveway. One worker wears a yellow hard hat, gray shirt, and brown pants, while the other wears a white hard hat, white t-shirt, and blue jeans. A large pile of various sized wooden planks and scraps is scattered on the ground near a blue portable toilet labeled "PRO-CAN" on its side.
Inspired by actual remodeling of a house on my street that looks very close to the illustration!
