The cat probably doesn't look at the stars, and if it looks up, it probably hears a bird up there, possibly on a tree.
We like cats because they have a lot in common with us. In addition to their love of sleeping and basking in the sun, it is precisely because, like us, they navigate primarily by sight. But as soon as it gets dark, their pupils dilate and cats lose their ability to focus, so cats can only see a few of the brightest stars. On the other hand, the light from the stars alone is enough for them to see the path at night and possibly track mice running around.
