Fairy House_Author Unknown
As I was walking homeward
one early summer's day
I met a little fairy
tripping on her way
Her bonnet was a bluebell
A daisy was her gown
Her wings were
bits of sunshine
trimmed with thistle down
I think she'd been to market
for as she hurried by
I peeped into her basket
to see what I could spy
A pair of flowered slippers
A reel of golden thread
A tiny jar of honey
and a teeny
loaf of bread
I stood amongst the blue grass
as still as still could be
The fairy gave a
rat-tat-tat
upon a
hollow tree
Then just for an instant
I glimpsed inside her house
Do you know what iI saw?
The front door was opened
by a mouse!

MUSHROOMS AND FAERIES
WHAT’S THE CONNECTION?
WELL, WHEN THE POEM MENTIONS…
The door was opened by a mouse! …

THIS REMINDS ME
OF HOW…
Mushrooms
are
known
to have
SURVIVED
ALL
MAJOR CATASTROPHES
that have caused
major extinctions
upon the earth.
species
which have formed a
symbiotic relationship
with mushrooms have
also been known
to
survive.
For example,
following the
extinction
of
many species
65 million years ago,
voles
(which are a relative of mice)
were the
largest mammal
to survive.
Their diet consisted of,
you guessed it,
mushrooms!
