My dog Kozma and I usually fall asleep with our spines pressed against each other because I suffer from a cold lower back. This time, during my illness, I called him over, and even though the room was hot, I was having chills, intense cold with shaking and that bone-breaking sensation. He lay down next to me, and I have never felt his spine so hot, like a stovetop. He stayed. He did not move to the floor where it was cooler, but gave all of his dog's warmth to warm me.
Unfortunately, that was only the second day of the chills. But he is my hero.
My mother, who was taking him out and feeding him, said that he refused to eat, not even bones or dog biscuits. He only took bread and a biscuit from my hands.
I have witnessed the unimaginable connection between a human and a dog so many times, yet it surprises me every single time. The two of us are one soul. My hero.
