The carnival is still glowing long after the crowds have disappeared. Beneath a dark, smoke-filled sky, the great rides stand frozen in an eerie twilight of their own , the carousel, the Ferris wheel, the towering swing ride, and rows of abandoned stalls illuminated by fading golden bulbs.
Fireworks still burst overhead, impossibly late, scattering red, gold, and white sparks across the night as if the celebration refuses to end. The wet ground mirrors the carnival lights, while translucent traces of the departed crowd linger like memories silhouettes fading into reflections, footsteps without footsteps, movement without anyone left to make it.
Nothing is truly happening anymore, yet everything seems to be continuing.
The carnival feels caught between "the last moment of celebration and the first moment of abandonment" beautiful, haunting, nostalgic, and strangely alive. A place where the laughter has vanished, but its ghost still hangs in the air.
