The Staff of Dawn is considered one of the oldest known wands of the ancient mage orders. Its wood came from an ancient yew tree that once stood on a hill revered as a sacred site by early druids. The tree was said to be over seven hundred years old when a wandering mage named Aurelian felled it during a rare solar eclipse. From this wood, he crafted a staff, carving sun symbols and fine lines into it. Aurelian was not a war mage. The chronicles describe him as a guardian of the balance between light and darkness. It was said that the staff could dispel fog and illuminate dark paths. Travelers reported seeing a warm glow suddenly in deep forests—as if the morning sun itself were appearing among the trees. After Aurelian's death, the staff disappeared from the records. Some scholars believe it was hidden by one of his students to prevent its power from being misused. Other legends claim that the staff still exists and appears only to those with pure intentions. When the first ray of sunlight strikes it on a new day, it is said to shine once more with golden light.
