Dedicated to long time DDG user Raoulle.
The autism puzzle piece originated as an autism symbol in 1963. The puzzle piece is the best know symbol with it's connection to autism awareness, which is why I used it. Trying to show an autistic shutdown, a condition in which an Autistic individual retreats from their surroundings.

Puzzles are a commonly reported favorite activity for children with autism. Jigsaw puzzles, in which users assemble irregular tiles into a complete picture, are tactile, repetitive, and have a single solution

Autism affects 1 out of 36 children & boys are 4 times likely to be affected. The rate of autism has steadily grown over the last twenty years. Please see links for more information

The puzzle piece, with its current spectrum of colors, is meant to be representative of the spectrum of perspectives and experiences autistic people may have.
