** The Reckoning **
Mother Earth, relentless,
her fury stirs beneath the skin of the earth,
rises like fire through the oceans,
cracks open the soil,
tears the sky.
Her patience is thinning—
she chooses who remains.
The sentinels stand,
small beneath the weight of burning stars,
eyes opened too late,
hearts heavy with unspoken regret.
They were warned,
in the whispers of the wind,
in the hunger of scorched earth,
in storms that wept
the language of destruction.
Ancient rules, unseen,
awaken in silence.
Their weight presses down—
a reminder of what was lost,
what was taken for granted:
to stand with humility,
to move with care,
to belong, not to claim.
The point of no return
is not a single step,
but a thousand storms ignored,
a thousand nights of silence.
Now,
the stars align against us,
their cold light burning through the darkness,
the signs flare in fire and flood.
And those left awake
are not tasked to rebuild,
but to remember.
To remember were we came from,
what we once were—
before the fury of the Earth became our only guide.
