Ruby Loafers

In a bustling world of glitter and screens,
Lived a man with big hopes and tight skinny jeans.
But his heart so longed for the life he had known,
Where the people were kinder and freedom his own.

One day as he wandered, fate would decree,
He stumbled upon a small boutique marquee.
"Ruby Loafers!", it said, "So Rare and So Fine!",
"Just click heels together, and home you will find."

With a grin and a swipe of his sleek smartphone,
He bought those red loafers and embraced the unknown.
So his quest began, though not knowing what for,
He stopped and he pondered at a small corner store.

He met a barista with latte art skill,
Who wished for the magic just over the hill.
And a worn business man with his tie all askew,
Dreaming of days when his dark sky was blue.

Now traveling together, red loafers all three,
They all clicked their heels and giggled with glee.
Their excitement flowed freely and deadened old pain,
They found joy and courage and peace for their brain.

"Our home we will find!", "that's where we should be",
They search from the mountains and down to the sea.
They went to grand cities and small town retreats,
Sleeping in campers or by fires on the beach.

But as time passed by, the group slowed their pace,
and started to doubt that "home" was a place.
For they now found comfort in the friends they had made,
along with the memories, which they'd never trade.

No riches they found, nor great power, nor fame,
but happiness grew in their hearts just the same.
Content with themselves, their work and their play,
while rings of their laughter chased old blues away.

With new wisdom they smiled, maybe wiping a tear,
And gathered the stories and friends they held dear.
For their home was never a far distant place,
It lived in each heart, with each heartfelt embrace.
