A Bonnie Braw Bumfuzzle In a wee hoose ‘neath dreich skies, Lived a braw young lad with twinkling eyes. “Fit like?” said he, all hale and hearty, “Let’s gab a wee, it’s a guid party!” Aiblins we’d dance, or stot like a cow, But nae fidgetin’ or mitherin’ now! “Haud yer wheesht!” the clarty ones said, Or I’ll nip yer clink, and ye’ll be red! “I ken a howff where the muckle fun’s at, With neeps and haggis, and a peely-wally cat. Aye, we’ll feast until we can barely move, Then just bauchle about, lookin’ for a groove!” The bonnie young males, so pretty and fine, Joined the braw lads, all tipsy with wine. “Let’s go oot!” one cried, “And stot down the street, The night is young; it’s a guid chance to meet!” With a stoatin' spirit and hearts all aglow, They danced through the town, makin’ quite the show. But when the sun rose, oh what a sight! Only stooky bums left to bid good nicht! So if you find yersel’ feelin’ clarty and dreich, Just think of this tale and give joy a preach. For life’s but a stot, upo’ the grand stage, Just bide a wee, and turn the next page.
A detailed and whimsical painting features a group of joyful Scottish men in tartan kilts, celebrating and dancing in a rustic-style room, surrounded by stone walls, a blazing fireplace, and plates of food scattered on the wooden floor. In the foreground, a white cat with bright green eyes walks among the dancing feet. The men are all dressed in traditional Scottish attire, including kilts in various tartan patterns (red, green, and blue plaid), white shirts, brown vests, knee-high socks, and leather shoes. Some also wear flat caps. Their faces express happiness and excitement, with wide smiles and open mouths as if they are singing or laughing.
One man in the center foreground, wearing a brown tweed jacket and a plaid kilt, raises his hand and looks towards the left, with a speech bubble above his head that reads "Fit like?". Another man to his left, also in a kilt and vest, holds a glass of red wine. To the far left, a man near the fireplace is seen dancing, with a part of a sign above the fireplace that reads "I ken a howff where the muckle fun's at". The fireplace glows warmly, casting light on the room.
