Queen of Time

Prompt:  patchwork by Hannah Hoch, His melting-clock imagery mocks the rigidity of chronometric time. The watches themselves look like soft cheese—indeed, by Dali s own account they were inspired by hallucinations after eating Camembert cheese. In the center of the picture, under one of the watches, is a distorted human face in profile. The ants on the plate represent decay on a molecular level. They too represent the passage of time. The plate represents the body as a whole, and the transformation of organic matter to dust. The hourglass represents time, the cause of entropy, as well as the time of decay, decay of molecules, and time. In this context, time becomes the key theme of the film. The clock and the box in the center of the picture are also interrelated. The clock serves as a symbol of fate and the box as a symbol of freedom. The box represents the material world and the wall behind it, with its images of decay, represents the spiritual realm. This connection is similar to that of the young man with the iron lungs in _Cabaret_. But whereas the audience member in _Cabaret_ has a choice between choosing life and returning to the world.   Try it
