ArtistA strange figure in a dim workshop filled with preserved dreamlike creatures and human forms posed unnaturally, glass cases glowing softly, the taxidermist wearing a stitched mask, delicate tools in hand, surreal and eerie atmosphere, ultra detailed, style by Shaun Tan × Zdzisław Beksiński × Rembrandt
The Dream Taxidermist collects what people leave behind in their dreams—versions of themselves that never came to be. Every abandoned ambition, every forgotten identity, every path not taken takes form in the dream world. The Taxidermist preserves these forms, arranging them in silent displays. Visitors who enter its domain often recognize something deeply familiar in the preserved figures—versions of themselves they might have been. The Taxidermist does not harm its guests, but it observes them closely, as if deciding whether they too belong in its collection. Some who leave report a profound sense of loss, as though they have glimpsed something they can never reclaim. Others never leave at all, becoming part of the collection—perfectly preserved, yet forever incomplete.
In a dimly lit, vintage-style study, a person with a patched leather mask and an apron is meticulously working on a small, winged skeleton creature with instruments at a wooden desk. The room is filled with peculiar taxidermy and anatomical specimens displayed in glass cases and jars. To the left, wall-mounted glass cases showcase skeletal remains of mythical winged creatures, one resembling a winged feline and another a winged dog. Below these, more cases contain two birds with blue and brown feathers, and a single golden bird figurine.
On the desk, alongside the working area, there are stacks of old books, spools of thread (black, blue, and brown), bone-like ornaments, and various crafting tools such as scissors and pliers. To the right of the person, a wooden shelf holds several antique wooden mannequins in various poses, including one standing with intricate patchwork on its body, and others sitting or lying down.
Amidst these shelves and on the desk are glass jars containing preserved specimens: two large jars with detailed octopuses floating in yellow liquid, and three smaller jars on the desk with unsettlingly realistic eyeballs, one larger jar with what appears to be a preserved multi-eyed creature. The overall atmosphere is dark, mysterious
