When I think of Swan Dive, a one-time Nashville duo comprised of Bill DeMain and Molly Felder, I think of music that offers playful effortless sophistication that is instantly instantly memorable. There is light and joy. They were a sensation in Japan, but unless you were running in the right circles in Nashville, you probably never heard of them. I started with them for this week’s Air-Conditioned and thought I’d follow a thread that took me to Prefab Spout, Blue Nile, World Party, Taylor Swift, The Replacements and the Latin Jazz stylings of guitarist Nelson Riveros. Roxy Music, Crowded House, George Michael, Karrin Allyson, Jillette Johnson and Memphis’s own Good Question round out the show.
