We didn't start the fire. Our parents didn't start the fire. Their parents didn't start the fire. It was always burning, since the world's been turning.

But we do have a responsibility to our children. And our children's children. We know so much more than our parents. Science has never been clearer, and it will only continue to improve. We can and do know what damage short-sighted policies can cause.

We didn't start the fire, but we can slow its burn.
