I took the base photo on the Rio Negro looking toward the city of Manaus, Brazil. The dark waters of the RIo Negro and the muddy waters of the Rio Solimões meet near Manaus to form the Amazon. The colors of the water do not mix for several miles. The day was bright, sunny, and extremely hot (108ºF) but my style photo made it look as if it were stormy.

The style image was of a hand-made fiber-art piece I created using off-white crochet thread to crochet wavey pieces and add stitchery to an unprimed stretched canvas. I painted and dripped blue dye on it. The wavy pieces resemble clouds and water.
