Obi was born in an average home in the late 90s, the father (Mr. Odilo) was a businessman base in Abuja Nigeria. In May 2004 his father's house was demolished in Wuse Abuja this subjected him to a high degree of hypertension that later claimed his life.
The mother (Ezinne) who had been suffering from Leukemia died 9 months after the husband departed due to the inability to sponsor the regular blood transfusion.
The 7year old Obi was left alone. One of the father’s former tenant took him in and asked him some vital questions like where they are from, as a smart kid he told her all she needed to know. After some days she reported to the police and embarked on the journey to Eastern Nigeria (Igbo land).
The grandmother, who is her only surviving grandparent welcomed them like strangers because she hadn't seen her grandson for the past 5yrs and didn't know the woman that accompanied him. The good Samaritan (former tenant) tried to use irony and proverb to explain her journey but it turned out unsuccessfully, they all mourned and wept both with the neighbors.
After some weeks Obi started seeing that his grandma's health was deteriorating rapidly since he arrived, and no one to run to since the mom was his grandmother's only surviving child after multiple miscarriages. One faithful night he dreamed of being saluted by the Whites after treating the grandma's heart problem. This brought about restless days and nights, he began thinking of a possible means to actualize this dream but “How...” was unknown to him. One day he decided to start breaking leftover stones in their community sand mine site, one faithful day out of one month he worked he found an unusual shiny stone that was too strong to break, he quickly ran home and met the patent drug dealer who happened to be the only enlightened person within his reach, so he confirmed it was it was a Diamond
