We went on a trip to see my brother, and meet his fiance's family. Along the way we stopped and stayed the night in a town called Bandon. In the great state of Oregon. I love it there, it's cold, it rains a shit ton, and it's right on the coast. The northern coast, crispy and smelling of fish. I fucking LOVE IT. I've always dreamt of living by the sea.
This photo was taken on that trip, I paid for that whole trip with money made from two parking lot striping jobs, completed whilst under fire from many physical ailments. As usual. The base here is the phot from the trip, but the source is a photograph of a run of freshly painted red curb with parking lot striper sitting next to it, in front of a water truck.
I love the way this came out, it's a bit dirty and pixelated. Kind of like us, but it's beautiful, and full of the colors that paint our lives. It saddens me a bit to see that my 5 year old son has fallen at a distance from the rest of the family on this one. He's a bit of a unique one. He's the apple of my eye, and he reminds me of myself in so many ways it makes me want to vomit sometimes. He's got all my best, and some of my worst. He's got all her worst, and yet still so much of her best. so he's got a blender in him that will certainly make his life challenging, but I will never stop trying to help him find his way, because that is my life's work.
To be a Father, To be a friend to the weak and weakened. To be here, as long as I can be for them. Hopefully it's till I'm 106, but if it's not. I'm going to give them every bit of me until then. This photo feels like it will remind me of that for some time.
