More about Tracy Chapman

WYXR-FM Air-Conditioned 82 - Tracy Chapman - Air-date March 3,, 2023
https://wyxr.org/air-conditioned/

One of the most powerful new voices to emerge in 1988 was Tracy Chapman. Nothing sounded like “Fast Car,” Chapman’s debut single. Her unique voice conveyed power, urgency and vulnerability and her songs, from the tender yearning “Baby Can I Hold You” to “Talking Bout A Revolution” felt rooted in deep conviction.

We shine some love light on Tracy for this edition of Air-Conditioned and also round up some great tracks by Joan Armatrading, Girly Man, Punch Brothers, Tori Amos, Velvet Underground, Buffalo Springfield, Francis Dunnery, Sussana Hoffs and Matthew Sweet and a great soulful live in the studio performance by Bonnie Raitt, Lowell George, Freebo and John Hammond Jr. We also have Memphis’ own Keith Sykes in the mix, plus Darlingside, Little Feat, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals. All good ingredients for proper Air-Conditioning and tuning wherever you are.

Just click on (or copy and paste) either of the links at the beginning or end of this post and it’ll take you to the Air-Conditioned webpage where the latest episode and a handful of recent episodes can be streamed anytime. Be sure to remember that this episode is available to hear at 9AM CST, Friday, March 3rd. You don’t have to only check it out at the time it airs, if your schedule doesn’t permit. It’ll be available to hear for the following month. If you use this link before this show’s airing, you will get last week’s show, which was actually pretty good, too. As always, thanks for listening and the good feedback.
