The poet Hesiod claimed that the great winged horse became the bearer of Zeus's thunderbolts. Pegasus became one of the favorite and most trusted aids of the king of the gods. Among the famous horses of the gods and heroes, Pegasus gave his name to an entire line of winged horses. Many of these pagasi were believed to be his offspring.
