The original modern bouquet is the the work of Floret Flowers: a family-run flower farm located in Washington's Skagit Valley, specializing in growing unique, uncommon, and heirloom flowers.
The style is a photo detail of the mantle of Santa Ana by Juan Alonso Villabrille y Ron (1663-1732). Although it looks like a painting of fabric, it is actually a painted sculpture using the decorative technique 'stew', which consists of applying a thin layer of gold on the object that is to be painted in order to obtain shiny and golden iridescence intertwined with the color of the paint. The final step is polishing the completed figure to bring out the iridescence.
