So, I've spent the last year and a bit writing a series of science fiction novels about the political intrigue and existential threats faced by an ancient and formidable alien civilisation. A huge part of those novels is diving into different worlds, exploring not merely their surface-level culture and appearance, but their unique biomes actually operate and how these have shaped the societies that live there.
