We watched you climb with a pious gait
As if each step confirmed your moral state.
While your gaze transfixed on a golden prize,
Something unfurled ’fore our very eyes:
Values you claimed were unshakably innate
Were nothing more than chips to negotiate.
We saw, at last, what held the least weight…
Each footfall betrayed what you claimed to apprize.
Every stair was a virtue you’d compromise…
Justice caved, empathy crumbled, truth obliterated,
Ne’er a pause—forward ho—you blindly elevated.
Moral of the Spiral:
Values can’t be measured in a vacuum.
Their worth is clearest when choices dictate what is sacrificed for what’s held closest.
