"A self-portrait of a young woman, “ILA,” sketched in about 1948 on a page torn from a lined steno pad and stuck in the back of an old cookbook where it remained hidden until about six weeks ago, when I accidentally found it. “ILA” was my mother, who passed away in 2015. I’m looking forward to taking her simple sketch and transforming it into many beautiful pieces of digital art in her memory.
