Rachel Nagy put heart and soul into The Detroit Cobras raw garage rock sound. She passed away this last January, but she is with us in spirit on this week's edition of my WYXR-FM show Air-Conditioned. Joining her are Tom Waits, Jett & The Blackhearts, NRBQ, Neil Young, Steve Earle, Beatles, Tragically Hip, Wilco, John Vanderslice. G Love & Special Sauce, Eddie Hinton, and some special vinyl transfers, courtesy of my good 'ol mastering buddy John Baldwin. Of those transfers, we have a killer unreleased rockin' rave-up with Jeff Finlin, a lovely unearthing of Son of Obituary George Gerdes, also some very cool music by The Fabulous Poodles and an R.E.M. transfer that is of one of my favorite early tracks by them. There's more in store. Check it out.
Just click on (or copy and paste) either of the links at the beginning or end of this post and it’ll take you to the Air-Conditioned webpage where the latest episode and a handful of recent episodes can be streamed anytime. You don’t have to only check it out at the time it airs, if your schedule doesn’t permit. As always, thanks for listening and your feedback.
