The “Innsmouth Look” is a term from H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos, specifically from his novella “The Shadow over Innsmouth.” It describes the peculiar appearance of the inhabitants of the fictional town of Innsmouth, who exhibit certain physical traits that are not quite human. These traits include large, unblinking eyes, broad lips, a narrow, sloping forehead, and a somewhat amphibious look. The Innsmouth Look is a result of the town’s residents interbreeding with the Deep Ones, a race of undersea creatures from Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. The transformation into this hybrid form is gradual and becomes more pronounced with age.
