Most of my favorite Neil Young recordings were produced by David Briggs, certainly some of his greatest rock tracks. Briggs loved to capture Neil as live as possible and, in today’s episode of Air-Conditioned, we shine a light on a recording that took place during an earthquake when they were recording in Neil’s barn. Briggs told me the band was rocking so hard they thought they were causing all the shaking. Listening to this track, I believe it.
In that spirit, we put the hammer down with The Yayhoos, Hoodoo Gurus, REM, Loose Fur, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and The Posies. Memphis’s late great John Kilzer brings it all home, along with Steve Earle, James McMurtry, Hindu Love Gods (with Warren Zevon) and Katrina & The Waves. Too much rafter shaking fun!
Just click on (or copy and paste) either of the links at the beginning or end of this post and it’ll take you to the Air-Conditioned webpage where the latest episode and a handful of recent episodes can be streamed anytime. Remember, this episode is available to hear at 9AM CST, Friday, December 16th. You don’t have to only check it out at the time it airs, if your schedule doesn’t permit. It’ll be available to hear for the following month. If you use this link before this show’s airing, you will get last week’s show, which was actually pretty good, too. As always, thanks for listening and the good feedback.
