From the 2000'ish, when I was signing JoSan (JS) here it is an acrylic on canvas that I painted on site when I went there, studying the most ancient villages of Portugal and also Europe. Monsanto, situated at the Beiras, is the most ancient and well preserved village in Portugal. Is from the Celtic Age and is mostly constructed with, or under and inside large rocks and stones. The architecture and the celtic strategy for food preservation and water collection during the very cold winters and the very hot and dry summers, is amazing. Everything is very, very old... and the village is still alive.
