Yes, it’s a real thing. In rare cases, a vitamin D deficiency can cause “calcium hyper-proficiency,” which, in turn, causes tooth-like structures to form on bones—in this case, the bones of a hand. Many “teeth” grew on the phalanges and other bones of this unfortunate person’s hand. The tooth on the middle finger fractured the tip of the finger.
