David Ackles never had any meaningful commercial success back when he was recording albums back in the late 1960s to mid-1970s. Nevertheless, artists like Elton John and Elvis Costello consider his music a serious influence on their songwriting. His best known album, American Gothic was produced by Elton’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin.
