For the base, I used a photo of my hand-made fiber-art piece which I created with off-white crocheted pieces and stitchery inside a circle on an unprimed stretched canvas. The top area of wavey crocheted pieces reminded me of clouds, whereas the bottom reminded me of waves. The middle section was left blank, so it reminded me of children's drawings where there is an open space between the sky and the earth. I titled it "Where Sky and Water Never Meet." After taking it to various art shows over many years, it began to look gray, so I painted and dripped blue dye on it ---the blues being appropriate for the title. The original piece is about 2ft X 2ft or 61cm X 61 cm.

I took the style photo from a boat on the Rio Negro looking toward the city of Manaus, Brazil. The dark waters of the Rio Negro and the muddy waters of the Rio Solimões meet near Manaus to form the Amazon. The colors of the water do not mix for several miles.
